Malgorn was a friend of cadvan's from childhood, he is skilled in the arts of husbandry and is a very powerful bard. he is from the school of Innail and let cadvan and maerad stay with him and his wife silvia after they had fled from the landrost, and later becomes the First Bard of Innail. He had a daughter but she died many years before the book begins. He is also supposed to be a very good judge of wines (cadvan says so in The Gift).
