Sir Christopher John Chataway (31 January 1931 - 19 January 2014) was a Conservative Party politician. He was also an athlete and broadcaster. Born in Chelsea, he was educated at Oxford before entering broadcasting. He returned to the Commons in May 1969 when he won a by-election at Chichester. He immediately resigned his leadership of ILEA, and stood down from the GLC in April 1970. He retired from parliament to pursue a business career in October 1974. He was knighted in 1995.
