Olshansky was a Barrayaran Colonel in charge of the newly-created Department of Sergyaran Affairs for Imperial Security. During the events of Memory, he accepted an invitation from Miles to dine with the Countess and Vicereine Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan. He was described as not being seasoned enough for the job of Chief of Imperial Security.
