The Hero/Heroine (主人公 Shujinkō) is the main playable protagonist of Legend of Mana. The Hero/Heroine essentially acts as the silent protagonist of the game, and their names and starting weapons are decided upon by the player. Said to be imbued with the omnipotent power to shape the world of Fa'Diel, the Hero/Heroine is able to release the power trapped within Artefacts and thereafter permit Lands to take shape. Although not made clear for the most part of Legend of Mana, the Hero/Heroine is destined to save the Tree of Mana from certain destruction before fading away into oblivion.
