After the demon Dex mistook the real Phoebe for the shapeshifting Kaia, he abducted her and took her to the penthouse. Cole Turner then decided to keep Phoebe trapped there and have Kaia impersonate her. However, her sisters grew concerned when they saw Phoebe kissing Cole, at which point Kaia pretended to be under a form of mind control and suggested it would be safer to strip her of her powers. Piper then cast the spell, leaving the real Phoebe powerless.
