Marjorie Eleanor McIntosh (née Betts) (1907-6 May 1964) was a lecturer and Labour Party politician. Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of Frank Betts, an inspector of taxes and his wife Annie Rebecca nee Farrand. Due to her father's profession, he moved around the country. Her younger sister, Barbara Anne, later Barbara Castle, member of parliament and cabinet minister was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, in 1910. The family subsequently moved to Bradford, Yorkshire, where her father joined the fledgling Independent Labour Party. She died, aged 56, in Middlesex Hospital.
