By the year 2199, the Small Magellanic Cloud has mostly come under the rule of a Large Magellanic Cloud power, the Great Garmillas Empire, although its control is contested by the Gatlantis Empire ("Wish Upon a Star", "A World I Once Saw"). The Gatlantis recognize Goran "Thunder" Dagam as governor-general of the region (Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark). The Small Magellanic Cloud is called "Gutaba" in the Gatlantis language. The name is also used by an expeditionary force personally led by Dagam (Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark).
