Kern Little held a release party for his album, Back from the Ashes, at Chez Club. During the event, Curtis Lemansky and Danny Sofer were working as security. Also, Kern's childhood friend, Rondell Robinson, was among the guests. When Kern invited his girlfriend Tyesha to get on stage for a duet, his rival T-Bonz arrived at the club and threatened him if he didn't pay what he owed him. When Rondell came out to defend his friend, a shootout between T-Bonz' men and Rondell's men ensued resulting in two casualties. Detectives Pete Shockley and Dutch Wagenbach started working the case with the help of Vic Mackey.
