Germanicus (28 June 8 AD - 14 November 61 AD) was the third member of the Argead-Ptolemaic dynasty of the Iberian Empire (in what is now modern Diadochia. He succeeded his great-uncle Antiochus I in 44 AD and reigned until his death. His original name at birth was Herakles Ptolemaios Antonius, after his father, great-uncle and his great grandfather Mark Anthony. The name of Germanicus was given to him because he led Germanic troops into battle. He was known for his courageous character and was a great general, like many of the other early emperors. After his death he was remembered for several centuries for his noble and virtuous character, his dashing physique and his military prowess; all in all he was labeled as one of the "good emperors".
