Dr. Alvin's Cough Medicine, in full Doctor Alvin's Old New Orleans Cough Medicine, is a Lovian alcoholic beverage originally made by doctor Alvin Wright as a cough medicine in 1889. It was made from bourbon and other "exotic ingredients from the jungles of the Amazon and the forests of New Guinea". To make it commercially more successful, he made it into a "refreshing carbonated beverage", though he kept the original name. In the 1920s, a nonalcoholic version of the drink was introduced in the of a soft drink.
