John Darnell directed 20 episodes of Coronation Street between September 1990 and December 1991. He began his career as a cameraman at Thames Television on series such as Robin's Nest, George & Mildred, Shelley and Rumpole of the Bailey, and went on to direct episodes of The Bill, Dramarama, Emmerdale, Heartbeat and Casualty.
