Nanushi was Tarōmaru's father and the leader of the village. He hid his own son and replaced him his servant's son as the child sacrifice to the fake water god. After Inuyasha and his friends defeated the fake water god, Miroku blackmailed him into revealing the village that the headman would sacrifice another child instead of his own, so he provided Miroku many gifts as payment.
