Mr Lloyd was a representative from Newton & Ridley who told the Walkers that one of their pubs, the Royal Oak, needed a landlord and offered them the chance of the tenancy. The couple visited the pub and Annie was taken with it though Jack eventually confessed that he felt too old to change after so many years in Weatherfield. They both realised that they were only trying to please each other and decided to stay at the Rovers.
