Hörst was a Nazi soldier under Klaus Kerner and was part of the excavation team stationed near the Atlas Mountains around Algiers in 1939. He intruded on Omar Al-Jabbar's home trying to persuade him to share his knowledge of Atlantis and the ancient artifacts he trades. Indiana Jones then arrived having followed Omar's servant, Paul Abdul. He neutralized Hörst and the two men went to warn the authorities.
