Kenji made his first appearance in episode 2, where he was sent to go shopping for Ikuko. When he meets Usagi coming home from school, he asks about Luna when he sees she is following them home, to which Usagi replies that the cat is her friend. In the beginning of episode 3, he is seen reading the newspaper about the "mysterious sleeping illness". In episode 9, he falls under the effects of Jadeite's cursed clocks, and is shown running out the door, late for work, when Ami is talking to Ikuko.
