Bobby Downs, also known as Bob Up by his adoptive father Notta Bit More, was an American orphan child who was accidentally transported to Oz along with a circus clown. After many years of living in a harsh orphanage, Bob had stopped laughing and had retreated into himself emotionally. When his adventure with Notta began, he became quite attached to him and eventually was adopted by him. (The Cowardly Lion of Oz)
