The Reconnaissance Corps was initially a team created dedicated to collect Intel about other ninja villages by the Raikage. Members of this team were personally chosen for their extraordinary talent in a specific field to acquire the knowledge in a short period without getting caught. Later the duty of the Reconnaissance Corps expanded to act as the Hunter-nin of Kumogakure, which included collecting the bodies of Missing-nin hailing from Kumogakure and hunting down criminals involving themselves with the Lightning’s affairs. Thus, the team became a secret unit that had to clean up the mess made by Kumo himself.
