Recovery 7 was a recovery craft maned by Charles Van Lyden sent up to Mars Probe 7. Its mission was to check on their communication equipment and see if the astronauts were well. Recovery 7 was taken over by alien ambassadors and subsequently flown to Earth. The Third Doctor took control of Recovery 7 to fly up and negotiate with the ambassadors' leader. Following the arrest by UNIT of General Carrington, the ambassadors were flown up in the craft to rejoin their people and the kidnapped astronauts were released, piloting Recovery 7 to Earth.
