A lake dragon was an animal species native to the planet Maravel. They resembled the dragons of Earth mythology, though they had no legs and lived on the water. They also had wings which allowed them limited flight capability. (TAS episode: "The Eye of the Beholder"; TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)
