The Friendship Agreement was the contract between George Washington and King Louis XVI of France following the former's exile from the United States about a year earlier. Louis XVI and France had been very supportive of Washington and the American colonists during the American Revolutionary War against the British only years earlier, which was the greatest factor which contributed to the King giving the Colony of Beauchemin to Washington.
