The service chute was a system aboard the USS Enterprise that dispensed clean Starfleet uniforms to crew members. In 2270, James T. Kirk retrieved his uniform from the service chute and put it on, only to find that the words "Kirk is a jerk" had been printed on the back of his shirt by the ship's main computer.
