Bob was a young ham radio enthusiast and friend of Junior Tracy. When Dick Tracy was stranded on the Granite Island during the incident with Miss Egghead, the detective was only able to get intermittent reception on his 2-Way Wrist Radio. At one point, Tracy found himself in brief communication with Bob, though they could only speak for a few moments before the signal cut out.
