Geraldine Crawshaw was the chairperson of the tenant's association at Quebec House, Weatherfield Quays in 1990. When the residents started having problems with their appliances, Geraldine investigated the matter along with Stephen Charlton. Working under the theory that someone was using unsuppressed electrical equipment, contrary to their tenancy agreement, Stephen spoke to the various flat residents to determine which one was culprit, and highly suspected Mike Baldwin after an encounter with him outside the building. Calling at Mike's flat, Geraldine and Stephen caught him using an industrial sewing machine, which he was using to complete an order for travel bags for Peter Ingram, who had given him an order unaware that Mike had sold his factory Baldwin's Casuals.
