A gas mine was an explosive designed to release an exhaust of poisonous gas when triggered. When set, a pre-programmed proximity would be placed around the mine and would explode when someone stepped within its range. However, some were skilled enough to disable and even repossess these mines, though such a feat was more difficult as the mines became more complex.
