When the alert level is raised to Army, Tanks start to attack Crypto. However, in DAH 2, Tanks won't appear on yellow level (Soldiers) but on orange level. More Tanks come when red level is reached. In the two others ( 1 and 2) Tanks will appear in the second last alert level and disappear in the last alert level. As their name suggests, Tanks are the strongest land weapon that attack Crypto, but with a well aimed Ion Detonator, a few blasts from any Saucer weapon, and continuous firing of a fully upgraded Zap-O-Matic/Disintegrator Ray can easily destroy a Tank.
