Dragon Quest X: The Five Awakening Races Online (ドラゴンクエストX 目覚めし五つの種族 オンライン Doragon Kuesuto Ten: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Onrain, lit. "Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online") is a Square Enix published video game for the Wii and Wii U. It is the successor to Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS, and was announced during a Dragon Quest conference on December 10th of 2008. The game is a "massively multiplayer online role playing game", or MMORPG. The story is set in a new world, Astoltia, featuring five continents and six playable races. The six races are Human, Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, Puklipo, and Weddie. Players will start as a human character, but after a certain point in the game, the character will become one of the other five races.
