H. H. Masterman was the creator of Sky Mount and a renowned tycoon. Both Masterman Way and the Masterman Trust had been named after him. He was known as a celebrated collector of the works of the Old Masters, being a great fan of Italian and Northern Renaissance artists. Masterman made his fortune by discovering a silver mine near Cripple Creek, before expanding it into banking, railroads and real estate. He built Sky Mount as a retreat from city living.
