Novorossiya, known as the Union of Novorossiya from November 9, 2015 on, was a state made up of Ukrainian separatist states formed initially by the Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkov People's Republics. It was joined by the rest of the Russian-speaking areas of Ukraine which fought a civil war against the far-right regime of Petro Poroshenko, eventually (officially) annexing the rest of Ukraine and proclaiming the Ukrainian Federation on April 9, 2016.
