George Bolton was a manager for Newton & Ridley brewery who Annie Walker summoned to see her in May 1973. Billy Walker had left suddenly as his business interests in the area had gone badly and he had returned to London to seek employment there. Annie felt that there was nothing for her in the area any more and Mr Bolton promised to arrange a relief manager as she wanted to go to daughter Joan Davies’s in Derby for a while, possibly a month, but she wasn’t sure if she would ever be back. A worried George told her to have a little break and see if she felt differently.
