The RG870Z features a basswood body bolted to a titanium reinforced maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with offset pearl dot position markers. Components include newly developed Ibanez CAP-VM pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil and an Edge Zero II double locking tremolo with a removable ZPS stabilizer. The RG870SPZ is a similar spot model with a flat black finish. The RG870QMZ is a similar model with a quilted maple top. The RG870Z was discontinued after 2012.
