A palm lock was a lock that was keyed by a palm print. A person would press a palm to a reader, which scanned the print. If it matched, the lock would unlock; otherwise not. These were relatively low-security in the Vorkosigan Saga; anyone with a reasonable amount of training could bypass a standard palm-lock.
