The Protector was a New Republic shuttle. While on route to the detention facility on Dles IV, the Trandoshan prisoner Nakaron managed to break free and hijack the shuttle, capturing the crew and Agent Thom Clessigan. Three months later, Nakaron issued demands regarding the release of the hostages; the New Republic prepared to solve the matter with an independent strike team.
