Monsters-and-maidens is a popular game normally played by children. It is a simple game in which players chase each other, one team pretending to be monsters who chase after and attempt to capture the players pretending to be maidens, who attempt to flee them. The game is often played by two teams of variable size, though it can be played by only two people.
