Heart of Stone was originally chosen to be the German entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna to be performed by Andreas Kümmert. It had won the 2015 German national final in a landslide with almost 75% of the total vote accumulated. However, in a move that shocked Eurovision fans and gained much attention in the media, Kümmert announced following the win that he wasn't ready for such a big stage like Eurovision and declined the ticket to Vienna, instead passing it on to Ann Sophie, who had finished runner-up with the song Black Smoke.
