Umarov was an FSB special forces and operations soldier sent to Siberia to guard the scientific group. He is an old man. When a Torosaurus attacked the group, he tried to escape, but he wasn't fast enough, and was injured by the dinosaur's horns. He was taken to the medical hut, where he spends the rest of the novel being cared for by Natacha Antila, along with Connor. In the end, he remains in Siberia, and presumably recovers. (Extinction Event).
