Introduced in 69 BBY, the DD-series demolition droid was an instant hit, and remained in use as of 18 ABY. Unlike most products from Republic Automaton, the DD-series was not a fine tool. It demolished objects and buildings by crashing into them repeatedly and then stomping on the remains. Though crude, this method proved surprisingly effective. By 18 ABY, the DD-series was on its second incarnation (DD-2).
