Stephan is always mentally connected to his twin sister, Magdalena. He can communicate telepathically with her no matter what the distance between them, and can project thoughts, ideas and mental images into her mind. When close enough, he can even share her mind completely, experiencing the exact same thoughts. It can lead to them speaking and acting as one, and enables him to know if she is in danger or needs his help. Magda doesn't share his thoughts in return, but she can sense his emotions through her own similar ability of twin empathy. It also seems that it is impossible to mimic this ability unless one has a twin.
