Vernon Joyner (born 16th December 1930 in East Stonehouse, Devon, died 14th May 2002 in Tunbridge Wells) appeared on Coronation Street between April and July 1964 as Lay Preacher Stuart Hodges, who took over from Leonard Swindley at the Glad Tidings Mission Hall. He returned to the role briefly in January of the following year. His other credits include Out of the Unknown, The Man in Room 17, Softly, Softly, Ivanhoe, Love Thy Neighnbour, Poldark, Secret Army, The Rag Trade and The Devil's Crown.
