William Ferguson "Bill" Thomson (March 23, 1914 – August 6, 1993) was an ice hockey player who was born in Troon, Scotland. He represented Canada in the 1936 Winter Olympics, winning the silver medal. Thomson played nine games in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings. He played junior hockey for the Kenora Thistles in 1930-31 and then played senior in Port Arthur from 1931 to 1937. Thomson signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1937 and spent the 1937-38 season with the Syracuse Stars. In 1938 he was traded (with cash) to the Detroit Red Wings for Bucko McDonald.
