The runway at Knock Airport is in a 09/27 Configuration and is over 2300m (7700ft) long. At 2.3km in length, the Knock Airport runway is more than long enough to accomodate the Jumbo Jet. Infact, Jumbo Jets (charters) have landed at Knock Airport on more than one occasion, the most recent being in June 2003, carrying 500 pilgrims to Lourdes in France. The main runway in Dublin Airport is only marginally longer than that at Knock. At over 10,000ft, the runway in Shannon is the longest the Country, and is infact designated as an emergency landing site for the Space Shuttle!
