Gus O'Malley was the owner of Cheers before Sam Malone. It is said that he sold the bar so he could live the last few years of his life in adventure (O'Malley had a heart condition). He only appeared in "Last Picture Show", in which he takes charge while Sam leaves for the night. However, during this, he proves himself to be a very strict boss, much to the dismay of Carla and Rebecca. Despite his attitude, O'Malley proves himself to be the drastically more profitable than Sam's administration.
