The Service Employees International Union will have a series of grassroots actions today and Tuesday calling on Allegheny Council to support an increase in the poured drink tax and car rental taxes and approve Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato's 2008 budget. A rally is planned for 4 p.m. Tuesday at the county courthouse, 436 Grant St. Council is considering the poured drink and car rental taxes in lieu of increasing property taxes to pay for mass transit.
