The Season had 22 Depressions, 16 Tropical Storms, 9 Hurricanes, and a Total of 4 Major Hurricanes. The Season also Contained the First Atlantic Category 5 in a decade, following the Downgrade of Hurricane Matthew in post-season analysis to 155 mph. The season also had a record tying 3-pre season storms, all during the month of May. Tropical Depression Twenty-One formed along with Hurricane Ophelia in early November, both having minimal impacts on land.
