On May 2, 1983, in the timeline that Biff controlled Hill Valley, an alternate version of Doc Brown was committed to the asylum. On October 26, 1985, in the timeline where the alternate Emmett Brown had been committed, Doc disguised himself and traveled to the asylum. He bribed the asylum nurse to talk with his alternate self. He discovered that, at some point after being committed, his counterpart had been lobotomized.
