Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a ski and snowboard resort in Kirkwood, CA to the south of Lake Tahoe. Kirkwood is one of the larger resorts in the Lake Tahoe region, and is well known for having one of the highest average snowfalls and a broad selection of advanced terrain. Kirkwood received an impressive 804 inches (2042 cm) of snow during the 2005 / 2006 ski season. Kirkwood is approximately 33 miles (53 km) south of Stateline, Nevada and South Lake Tahoe on California State Route 88 and is contained within the Eldorado National Forest.
