The Balatir was used to ferry Certoss representatives to meet with Federation diplomats since formal first contact. This information was committed to the Starfleet library computer. In 2268, the Balatir was dispatched to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise. Minister Ocherab had been charged by her government to retrieve a Certoss native from the Enterprise, in response to a distress call originating from 20th century Earth.
