As a young Flight Leader assigned to the 1st Tactical Squadron at Mińsk Mazowiecki, Captain Twardowski and his men became some of the first Eurofed aces of the war. Fighting against waves of Russian planes, the squadron developed revolutionary new Air-Intercept tactics that were quickly adopted by other Eurofed interceptor units in every theatre of war. The squadron's planes were replaced with the more advanced Eurofighter Tempest interceptors in time for the northern counteroffensives late in the war.
