During his time at Hogwarts, Draco became friends with Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Pansy Parkinson; his one-time girlfriend and childhood friend, and a few other Slytherins. He did, however, develop a notorious rivalry with Harry Potter; mainly due to his own jealousy over the attention that he got and Harry's refusal to adhere to blood purist principles; being best friends with a Muggle-born, Hermione Granger, and a Blood Traitor, Ron Weasley. Draco was made Prefect in his fifth year and became part of the Inquisitorial Squad of then-acting headmistress Delores Umbridge.
