This ability is consciously activated, and will then absorb up any radiation in the vicinity. It is known that it can clear the radiation left by the aftermath of a nuclear explosion, but not if it can absorb any other varieties. The radiation doesn't harm the individual at all. The energy produced was used to emit light, but it could also have other uses.
