The 2004 UAW-GM Quality 500 was a Nextel Cup event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 16, 2004. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon struggled most of the night behind leader Kasey Kahne. But late in the race Kahne crashed and both Johnson and Gordon emerged at the front, with Johnson holding off Gordon by 1.7 seconds for the win.
